Captain Harshan was blessed with uncommon tenacity which reflected in the operation conducted by him in his relentless pursuit of terrorists in the harsh confines of Lolabvalley of Jammu & Kashmir. On 20 Mar 2007, the officer laid cordon around the house. The terrorists attempted to break the cordon and came face to face with Capt. Harshan who killed three hard core terrorists. In the battle the officer received gunshot wound on his thigh and neck & was succumbed to his injuries. For his indomitable courage, tenacity, uncommon bravery, selflessness and devotion to duty, Capt Harshan R was conferred with Ashok Chakra(Posthumous).
